How often and in what ways might internal politics factor into project success?

First according to dictionary.com - Internal politics refers to a set of relationships within an organization which affect the way it works. This kind of relationship is evident in terms of promotions and pay. I see internal politics often playing a role in a projects success. Sometimes because of politics in a workplace you can have someone leading that shouldn't be leading throwing your project under the bus right away. It almost becomes a competition in the workplace and that competition being who can make themselves the most impressive to the boss. Sometimes there isn't even a competition it is just one of the bosses friends that works with you making it even harder to over come. But the politics in a workplace can be a good thing in some cases. The case being the guy that works hardest and has the most respect in the workplace can be at the top of the ladder because he worked the hardest. All in all it does effect the projects in a larger company either in a good light or a bad one is the question of how successful a project becomes.

Clayton Michek's Student Life as a 'Project'

My time line consists of 4 to 5 years of undergraduate degree seeking.
3-4 of post undergraduate masters degree seeking.

I find my stages consist of
1. Freshman - Sophomore general ed classes.
2. Junior - Senior finishing major and general ed classes.
3. Fun on masters degree seeking that may continue right after undergraduate degree or 2-5 years later depending on life choices and job outlook.

I have the goals of
1. Getting out of school with the least amount of debt.
2. Graduating in 4 years.
3. Major in computer science.
4. Minor in Graphic Design or Films.
Hopefully these goals are not too irrational and can become outcomes of my student life.

To what extent do relationships that are formed online and remain virtual differ from ones that are formed as a result of meeting in person?

To what extent do relationships that are formed online and remain virtual differ from ones that are formed as a result of meeting in person?

Relationships that are formed online and remain virtual are completely different because yes you meet online but how do you know they are truly a real person till you meet in person?  If its the case were you are what they call cat fished like the new hit mtv show.  You meet someone online but you remain virtual and so does the relationship.  This is where you don't know if the person is made up or if the person is actually a real human being that looks like their picture.  There is always someone behind the other screen but how do you know that person is really the person your talking to.  On the other hand great things can happen from online relationships when you finally meet in person like all of these online dating websites.  Anyway I find it to be a dark deep pit when meeting someone online and staying only a virtual relationship.

Describe how using social networking technologies changes how you communicate with your family and friends.

I use social networking to communicate with almost all of my family members and friends all over the world.  I have friends in Germany and Brazil that without social networking like skype and facebook I wouldn't be able to talk to them without it costing me an arm and a leg.  It's not just for those few friends that are across the world it's also for those friends that are 45 mins away from me that I can't see every day like my family back home.  Social media has its ups and downs but keeping in contact with those people that are close to you is priceless.

Impact Of Personal Networking Devices

Consider the impact of personal networking devices, in terms of the environment.  What do you think are the biggest areas of immediate impact?  How about long term impact?

I believe that the impact is going to start to grow on the environment more and more.  As of immediate impact I believe advertisements and marketing is really going to start influencing people more and more.  This will be through personal devices instead of huge billboards everyone has a cell phone and soon everyone will have a regular smart phone.  Why would anyone have a giant sign when they can reach hundreds of others on their phones? Also now that everyone has a cell phone every two years they are getting new ones so what happens to the old ones?  The collective total is around 426,000 phones a day are thrown away in the us alone, (Thats 155,490,000 a year) according to the source below. So this going to impact the actual environment in the future. These are two different environments but they are all interconnected in the end.

Consider the following statement:  "Nothing is really secure - Get over it!"  If this is true, then what might be the consequences, given your own use of networking technologies

I believe that this is a true statement.  I think if someone wants a piece of information about you that they can find it no matter what.   This is a little scary to me given that I am growning up in the digital age.  There might be security measures in place, but with these hacking groups that are starting up like Anonymous and others. They are out to get the information that they want and will not stop till they get it.   Every bit of sensitive information that I have, I have put into some sort of internet based system from Social Security Number to my Credit card number and who knows if this info is safe with the company I applying for a job with.

I use all kinds of technology to stay in touch. I use Facebook and other social networks to stay in touch with a lot of family and friends but sometimes it becomes more of a distraction than a way to stay in touch. The reason that I use Facebook is to keep updated with everyone I have ever been friends with when really I should just be caring about a certain few true friends.  I use my computer constantly throughout the day, be it messaging my friend from Germany to Skyping with my friend in Brazil. Which leads me to my iPhone I keep in touch with a lot of my real true friends through text message and FaceTime with my phone with out it for a day and I would not know what to do with myself.  Sometimes I also use my xbox and things like that to stay in touch also with my friends that also play the same game. Most of all I try and talk to people face to face as much as possible to make sure I am not getting to much stimulation from these social networks and virtual messaging.  I try and stay away from the addictiveness of Facebook and other social media networks.
